Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Hellooo!
I bought this product ages ago and was slightly confused by it.
I loved the smell and the concept was great as it really gently scrubs the lips and also leaves them feeling soft and moisturised and ready for lipstick. However when I first bought this I couldn't work out how to use it... I'm not an idiot, promise! So, I put it on, scrubbed away and then had a sugary mess covering my lips (and occasionally chin) and was left searching around my room for make up wipes to remove the mess, thinking; there must be an easier way! Even when I thought I'd removed it all I'd find some across my cheek or in my hair a bit later...

But this was entirely my own stupidity because when I logged on to the Lush website and searched for this, I discovered through a handy video (here) that it is actually edible! So you are just meant to lick it off your lips when you're done!

Amazing!

I'm now a great lover of it and would like to rant and rave about it as much as possible, so here you go...

Scent: You know when you give your Snow Fairy Shower Gel a sniff and its so lovely and you get the sudden urge to taste it, and then you look on the label and it advises you not to and you feel all disappointed... (just me?) Well this is the solution.
(I also experience this with body shop body butters, anyone else?)

Effectiveness: Lush says that it 'Clears dead skin and flakiness from lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth. Lip scrubs are made from castor sugar to act as a gentle scrub and jojoba oil to be wonderfully moisturising but light enough not to leave you feeling greasy.'

Primer Picks!

Hellooooo!
I have been testing out some different sorts of primers recently and thought I'd write all about it!

There have been some that I love and some not so much, I've picked five of the best and worst to discuss with you here!

I have combination to dry skin and look for a primer that will give me a nice base and keep my make up on for longer. So these reviews are about how these products worked for my skin, but if you have a different skin type, the ones I didn't get on with may work for you, just as the ones I liked may not work for you. Bear that in mind whilst reading, I hope this is helpful!

Benefit That Gal brightening face primer.

I got this little sample size with my benefit concealaholic kit around christmas time and the teeny 7.5 ml has lasted me until now!

Rating: 4.5/5

Good:

  • I love the texture of this, its lovely and creamy, it blends in really well and leaves the skin soft but without any residue.
  • It's pink and slightly iridescent so it gives the skin a nice dewy glow.
  • It doesn't dry my skin out.
  • It does hold my makeup for noticeably longer that without any primer.
  • The packaging is lovely (in sample size and full size).
  • A little goes a long way.
  • It smells lovely!

Bad:

  • It's not the most affordable choice at £21.50 for 11ml.

Bourjois Flower Perfection Translucent Smoothing Primer.

Rating: 4/5

Good:

  • This primer is one of the velvety textured ones and it sooo soft, and leaves skin feeling all silky and smooth.
  • It smells really nice and floral.
  • It holds make up in place.
  • It's good for oily or combination skin because it gives a matte finish.
  • The price is a bit better than the Benefit primer, at £9.99 for 7ml.

 Bad:

  • It's not brilliant for dry patches, the matte effect highlights dryness.
  • It says that it disguises blemishes and fine lines which I haven't noticed.

7 things for 7 days update!

Sprinkle of Glitter's 7 things

So going back to last week, Sprinkle of Glitter inspired me to get organised and set myself some tasks for the week! Now I'll do a quick update of how I got on...

1. Work Get back in to the swing of my summer job. Although cinema work isn't exactly complicated, I have lived the lazy student life for the past year and deffo need to get back in the swing of things again!

It didn't take me long to get back in to the swing of things, not much has changed in the time I haven't been there! So this one can be well and truly checked off the list!

2.  Organise my time As I'll be working mostly evenings and weekends, and my boyfriend Craig works weekdays, we'll have to make the effort to set aside time to spend with each other.

This has gone well, we set aside Sunday to spend together, went shopping, went out for a roast dinner and watched the football :) CHECK.

3. Relax I only finished my second year exams on the 13th June so I spent a lot of my recent weeks stressing out in the company of a mountain of text books and paper, I feel I deserve to counter balance this with lots of pampering!

I have this one down to a T! I haven't had too many hours at work yet as it's not too busy at the mo, so the rest of my time has been spent relaxingggg... CHECK.

4. Exercise I have been making sparse visits to pilates and zumba classes with my mum recently and I never thought it was possible but I actually enjoy it! I aim to go to the gym two or three times this week.

Football, thank you's and nail art features!

Hello!

Just a quick one this evening as I have just returned from watching the football in the pub, which ended up being full of crying, drunken men and one happy Italian woman...
oh dear England.

Anyway, I have just hit 20 followers and I'm soooooo pleased! Thank you everyone who took the time to follow my blog, I really do appreciate it!

And secondly, Sinead from Fashion and Beauty Tribes has very kindly put some of my nail art up as part of her nail art feature! She has a lovely blog and does some really good photography, so go check her out here and check out the feature where she included my nail art here!

Thanks for reading!

Anniversary gifts?

Gift Idea :)

It is coming up to mine and my boyfriends 5 year anniversary, and I've been panicking about what gift I can get him with no money! Hmmm...
I decided to make something myself, because then he's not allowed to say he doesn't like it! (hehehe)
So I have sorted some photos, old and new to put in a frame which we can put up when we move in together. I've been looking at Next's range of Multi collage frames and although some are wayy out of my price range, I have found some that may work! :) This Heart Collage Frame is so pretty and only £16. I also like the Black multi collage frame which is £20. Hmmm, hello overdraft!!

Thought I'd leave you with two of the pics I'm going to get printed!
Soppy I know but hope you like!

Tips for struggling students!

Helloooo!

So as I mention in most of my posts, I live on a student budget and I also find it very difficult to prioritize... for example, I'd really rather buy a new toppers dress than food for the week! ('Help me I'm poor!' name that film!)

I don't know if it's because I'm growing up and getting more sensible (hmm) or that I have less money now than ever before... but I have been researching money making and money saving strategies. And as a few of you that comment are students too, I thought I'd share them with you!

In the next seven days I will....

1. Work Get back in to the swing of my summer job. Although cinema work isn't exactly complicated, I have lived the lazy student life for the past year and deffo need to get back in the swing of things again!

2.  Organise my time As I'll be working mostly evenings and weekends, and my boyfriend Craig works weekdays, we'll have to make the effort to set aside time to spend with each other.

Thrifty, crafty gift ideas!

Helloooo!

As I was flicking through this week's Look Magazine  and came across these adorable little charms from The-beadshop.co.uk starting from only 70p each! I clicked on to the website to take a look and thought it was such a cute idea.

My student budget means that when it comes round to the birthdays of my friends and family, I obviously want to get something special and heartfelt but I'd prefer it not to cost me a month's rent!

I don't have many talents but I can cut and stick photos quite well so I often make up photo collages and album's as personalized gifts and this is another crafty idea to give as a personal gift that won't cost a bomb!

I will definitely be ordering some of these to make something for the next upcoming occasion! So pretty, so cheap and delivery to the UK is only £1.95.

They sell everything you need to make your own charm bracelets, necklaces, brooches, watches, bag charms, earrings and loaadsss more crafty bits.

And the range of charms and beads suit all tastes and ages!

MAC Mineralize Blush

Hellooooo!

I bought something realllllly pretty that I wanted to share with you! :)

So I have spent pretty much all of my student loan now and I start my summer job tomorrow but I won't get paid until late July! (arghh) So I thought I would spend my last £12.75 in the entire world on something useful, practical and essential...

Mac Mineralize Blush in Warmth of Coral.

I realise that this may not have been the most sensible choice for my last purchase until July, perhaps food may have been better hmm, but I went to The Cosmetics Company Outlet in Gunwharf Quays and saw this and had to get it.

It consists of baked minerals refined in to a powder formula to provide sheer and lightweight application (MAC website).

And I must say this is true! It's so light and blend-able, and you can build it up for a more bold look for the night time perhaps.

I am very pleased I did buy it because it's sooo lovely and has just the right amount of shimmer. The different baked in colours make it look so pretty and natural on the skin.

It's such a lovely spring colour, it's not on the website so I think this must mean it's part of an old range, which makes sense as I bought it in the outlet. But this means that it cost me a mere £12.75 instead of the new colour range of the same blush retailing at £19.00 in MAC.

BARG.

I'd like to report a bargain...

You know that really chuffed feeling when you buy something that is soooo pretty, perfect fit and a great bargain, and you just feel like you have to tell everyone about it? Well I have already told all my friends about this beautiful dress (so you know there will be an incident where we all turn up dressed the same at some point!) and now I shall share it with you...

H&M is a wondrous place, sometimes I search through for hours and all I can see is luminous orange ripped leggings and a green crop top with a picture of a horse on it... but occasionally I find something amazing!

Taadaaa...

The wonderful world of EBAY

Helllooo!
Hope you have had a lovely Monday!
This is a quick post about my attempts to be thrifty...

So when I was packing up my big attic room at uni, I was sat on top of a mountain of clothes, handbags and shoes (and I think my boyfriend was probably in there somewhere too) thinking, how on earth is this all going to go back in to my box room at home!!?

I used to have so much space at home to organise all my bits and bobs neatly, but then I came home from uni one day and my little sister had moved all her stuff in to my room and I was banished to the box.

Anyway I'm over it (not) and I have worked out lots of ways to save space, I have my baskets full of makeup, boxes in my drawers to section everything off neatly, and a lot shoved under my bed.

So, my massive room at uni was amazing to spread out in! And for someone who lives on a student budget I seem to have accumulated a lot of clothes over the last year... who needs food ayy?

Anyway, back to the point of this post, I have sorted out all of the things I don't use anymore (some brand new!!) and put them on Ebay!

Here is my Profile, please go take a look and recommend me to your pals!

I'm new to this Ebay malarki, so if anyone has any selling tips, do tell!

Thanks for reading!

Triangle nails...

Wasn't sure what to call this style, not really triangles but I can't think of any other way to accurately describe them...
Hmmm... Anyway here is an easy peasy way of making short nails appear longer and also a tad pointier, at least I think so! You can use any colour combo you like, I may add some glitter next time, or when the sun decides to show I may use pastels!

So for this I began with this little gem, as my nails have been a bit weak lately...

Then I painted them with two coats of Barry M Dusky Mauve...

Then I used a white nail art pen to draw lines from the corner of each nail into a point near the tip...

I finished it off with a clear top coat and that was that, triangle-y mauve-y pointy looking nails :)

Hope you like! Has anyone got any other (easy to do with a rather shaky hand...) nail art ideas can I try?
Have a good weekend!

Jubilee nails!

Happy Diamond Jubilee Queeny and citizens of the UK! Thought I'd get into the spirit the best way I know how... nail art :) Here are my Jubilee nails, they are little Union Jacks but I didn't go for the conventional red, white and blue as I wanted to be different and use some pastels! So I have have used three colours, the green is  Bourjois So Laque, the pink is Rimmel 60 second nail polish and I also used a white nail art pen. I realise they aren't the neatest of union jacks but it is very tricky (I haven't photographed my right hand!) I think they look quirky and like they are meant to be a bit wobbly... that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it! If you have an easy way of doing a straight line please do tell :)

                                                                Step 1: Paint base coat...

Step 2: paint a cross and then a wonky cross in white...

Step three: Paint over white lines in pink, leaving outline!

Waa laa slightly... rustic, shall we say, Jubilee nails!

I wore them today whilst celebrating the bank holiday by looking round the stalls and having a pic-nic at Hampton Court. The sun even came out, and I took a few good snaps, which I'll put in below! What are you doing to celebrate?
Enjoy the bank holiday!

Kate Moss for Rimmel

Hellooo!
I mentioned in my blog post about the revlon and maybelline lipsticks that I have been in search of an orangy/coral tone lippy after seeing how Zoella incorporates this beauutttiful colour into her makeup! Call off all the searches!....I have found THE one :)
Number 12 from the new Kate Moss for Rimmel Spring collection is my new favourite thing in the world of makeup!! I had previously bought shade 08 from the older Kate collection and wore this a lot during autumn and winter, so I knew how good the quality was anyway, and seeing in boots that they are reduced to £3.99 at the moment I couldn't resist!

The three I'm showing here are my old fave from autumn/ winter (number 08) which has a permanent place in my makeup bag, and which I will be trying to adapt for spring/summer too. And then two new shades (numbers 20 and 12) from the Spring range that I bought from Boots for £3.99 each. I have become somewhat of an addict so will be purchasing as many as I can from the new range, hopefully before the offer runs out!

First off the packaging is lovely, sleek black matte casing with Kate's name and a hand drawn heart in the same colour as the lipstick's shade on the lid. But I do rather prefer when lipsticks have names instead of numbers, much more creative and memorable, don't you think? Apparently Kate insisted on choosing the numbers though, don't know what difference it makes really!

Sorry about how blurry this picture is but you can see that the coloured sticker on the end is actually a really good representative of the colour of the lipstick.
I find it verrry annoying when you see a nice shade on the sticker, then pull out the tester and it's a completely different colour!
But no worries here, it's perfectly matched :)

This amazzzinggg hot pink is so pigmented and goes on the lips like a dream. It has blue undertones which help your teeth appear whiter, and is such a nice colour to wear on a night out with black liner and some lashes!

This is the iconic shade Kate wears for the campaign, she teams it with a purple smoky eye which is rather brave, of course she can pull it off... she's Kate Moss. But for little old me this is deffo enough of a statement colour on it's own!

Number 12...

The one I have been searching high and low for... :D
This shade is sooo nice and sooo on trend, so I hear... It is such a lovely deep orange colour which sounds like it would be hard to wear, but actually it is really flattering.

I have recently been taking advantage of the beach near my uni house and (after some burning) have managed to gain a nice flush of colour in my face, and the sun also brings my freckles out which really compliments this shade :)

It is sooo pigmented and bold, however as lovely as this fact is, it means application has to be very neat! If it bleeds round the edges of your lips or gets on your teeth, you end up looking as though you have eaten a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese in a very messy fashion... not a particularly attractive look!

Last but definitely not least... number 08. I wore this sooo much in winter, it's a really nice nude colour which is a bit darker than my complexion... in a good way! This was the first lipstick from the Kate Moss range I purchased and it was with this lipstick I discovered how good the quality is. They are so creamy and soft, not drying for the lips at all.

Rimmel says that they have used a 'breakthrough formula featuring the black diamond pigment complex' which is what adds the slight sheen to the colours which makes them really stand out. Annnnd, massive bonus, they smell soo nice and fruity!

The only negative I would say about the colours that I have tried from the collection, is that they are not longlasting. To keep it looking bold you would need to re-apply every few hours. Which I think is a small price to pay for such a lovely lipstick! :)

Shimmery shimmery...
I usually prep my lips with one of these body shop lip salves before I apply any lipstick, and if I want a bit of a glossy look, over the top as well! Passionberry and Watermelon are lovely smells and for £2 each you can't go wrong really!

Overall I am loving these lippys! The next one on my wish list is deffo Number 16!
What are the other shades in the range like?
What's your favourite new spring shade?

Thanks for reading!

Georgia :)
