2013

I've been watching a few of these nifty little 2013 videos from people I follow, and as I'm feeling just as reflective about my year in this strange limbo like time between Christmas and New Year, I thought I'd make my own!

This really made me realise how much I love Instagram, it makes you appreciate and remember all the things you thought were important enough to stop and take a picture of! AND I don't even care if I'm that person taking a picture of their dinner, I actually love looking back through them!

I've had such an amazing 2013, starting off interning at ASOS, then I spent my last few months at uni before going to the Amalfi Coast, interning at Oasis and Monsoon, Graduating, attending some great events, and then moving to a lovely new house!

Fingers crossed 2014 will be just as exciting! My aim is to finally land myself a job in Fashion PR, what's yours?

Link my Instagram (xgeorgia) if you've made a best of 2013 flipagram, I'd love to see!

Happy New Year, see you in 2014!

Bourjois Twist up the Volume Mascara | Review

I love testing out a new mascaras! So when I picked up this little beauty from Bourjois at London Fashion Week I couldn't wait to try it!

As I've tried to show in the best way I could in the photos below, it has a little twist top with two settings which change the length and width of the wand.
The first setting is longer and the plastic bristles are set wider apart so they comb through all of the lashes and separate them. The second setting twists the wand so that the plastic bristles are closer together, so that it thickens and adds volume to the lashes.

I usually spend a lot of time combing through my lashes on the first setting to make sure they are all separated and coated from root to tip, before switching to the second setting and wiggling the wand through the root of my lashes (rather than at the ends which would make them look clumpy!)

No Mascara                                   Coat 1                                      Coat 2

It's fab, and sooo black which I love! The formula is quite dry but without being flakey which is also good, and despite my love for natural bristle wands I actually have found myself preferring this plastic bristle wand recently! I like how much it really separates them and I can get to all of the little hard to reach lashes at each end of my eyes.

You may have noticed that I have no mascara on my bottom lashes in these pictures, this is because there is only one mascara I dare to use on my bottom lashes, and that is Clinique's bottom lash mascara! Every single other one I've tried on my bottom lashes ends up half way down my face after a few hours, which, let me tell you... is not a good look!

But for top lashes this is my fave of the moment, it's lengthening, volumising and long lasting AND it does a snazzy wand twisting trick! What more could you want?!

Have you tried this fabulous new invention?
What's your favourite mascara?

Little exclusive for you as well... Bourjois are developing a new mascara formula to rival Benefit They're Real which, I don't know about you, but I am VERY much looking forward to!

Black and Gold | Nail art

Barry M nail paint in and foil effects

I'm getting quite nifty with my little nail art dotting tool! I was only going to do one nail dotty but I went a bit crazy and did the whole lot, but I quite like it, what do you think?

Hope you like!

Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix | Review

I've been having a bit of a skin mare recently, English Winter weather does not help dry sensitive skin one bit! This review also has a little back story so if you want to get to the main bit jump ahead...
I was shopping in London and a very clever sales lady enticed me towards her shop by saying she liked my coat, I'm a sucker for a compliment! So next thing I know I'm sat in a chair having something rubbed on to my hand. So it was a very posh product with gold pieces in it which she rubbed into the back of my hand, causing visible dirt and dead skin to be drawn out! As an obsessive hand washer, I was obviously horrified. But even more so when she pointed out that we wash our hands multiple times a day but only wash our faces twice a day... just imagine!
So I was sold... until she mentioned it's £100 a bottle, then I politely excused myself and started frantically hunting for a cheaper product to do the same job.

Introducing the new addition to my skincare draw.... Nip and Fab Glycolic Fix Pads
Now these don't quite work in the same way, these pads are to be used after cleansing your face, and I also use toner afterwards before applying my moisturiser. They contain glycolic and lactic acid to stimulate cell turnover which is supposed to give a smoother and brighter complexion.
They also contain blue daisy to soothe and witch hazel to improve skin tone and they are mild enough to be used once or even twice daily.

Since using these, the tone of my skin is so much more even, I have been having less break outs and the even the dryness is more controllable. This is because exfoliation is a really important step in any skincare routine, because your skin needs to be completely clean and fresh before applying moisturiser otherwise it won't sink in to the skin, it will just sit on top of the dead skin and dirt. (Another lovely tip I learned from the sales lady!)
They are also anti-ageing, which is not something on the top of my list as a 21 year old, but hey prevention is better than cure right?!

They are available in Boots (click here to have a look!) for £12.99 for a pot with 60 pads, and I don't know about you but that's way more within my price range!

Have you given these a try?
How much would you be willing to spend on skincare?

If you like reading skincare type posts have a look at this review of Lush's Mask of Magnaminty or my post on Benefit's skincare set and if you want to see more Nip and Fab have a look at my review of their CC range!

Halloween Nails | with Bourjois

Happy Halloween!
As I am no longer at university, going out on a Thursday is sadly not really a thing any more, however I did do some pumpkin carving to get into the spirit, and what's a seasonal occasion without themed nail art right? And I'm digging out the cat ears Saturday to go out in Camden so all is not lost!

Barry M in Black
Collection 2000 5 Day Wear in French White
Bourjois Texture Silicone Gel in Dangerous Wish (part of Bourjois' Halloween range in stores now!)
Bourjois Nail Art Dotting Tool

Step 1: Paint two coats of black on every nail,
Step 2: Use the larger side of the dotting tool to create two oval shapes on each nail except the ring finger (One of mine went wrong which explains the ghost!)
Step 3: Use the smaller side of the dotting tool to draw dots on each white oval.
Step 4: Paint glitter polish on to the ring finger and you're done!

I really love a bit of nail art, so if you've done anything Halloween themed leave it in the comments or mention me in your instagram or twitter pic! xgeorgia
