August Faves!

 Hellooo!
It's the 31st August whhhattt?! I am finishing work this Sunday and then spending the next week doing uni work and making up for not doing anything all summer... oops! But first I shall tell you all about what I have been loving over the month of August :)

First off, my Topshop ear cuffs! I showed these in a post a while ago when I first bought them and I have been wearing them loads over summer! Whenever I have my hair tied up or pinned back I put one of these on the side of my ear and I feel just a little bit cool!

On the days which England has actually seen some sun this summer, I have been making the most of it by wearing these lace up sandals from Topshop with everything!

I'm so glad I bought Indian Ocean from Models Own's Beetlejuice collection because it's so pretty on it's own and recently I have found that it's actually magic and changes the colour of other nail polished used as a base coat! I painted it over Barry M Vivid Purple (left) which resulted in a goldy pink shade and also over Models Own Nude Beige (right) which provided such a good base for the colour to show off it's shimmery-ness.

I got this HD brows kit in Foxy in a Glossybox a while back and love using it for my eyebrows, but over August I have also discovered that it can be used as eyeshadows as well. I blend the warm brown shade with brown eyeliner to make a brown smokey eye which lasts really well all day!

I have been using this literally every day since I bought it, it's amazing and if you'd like to know more then you can see an in depth review here. I think I might just go as far as saying it's my favourite mascara!

I have recently started using this night cream instead of just my day moisturizer overnight and I have really noticed a big difference. This is really lovely and thick but doesn't feel to heavy on the face and when I wake up in the morning my skin feels so soft and nourished! It also smells amazing and is very affordable.

Last but not least is my Lush mango bath melt! This smells soooo nice, I love strong fruity scents so this one is perfect for me! I used half of it in a bath and it made the whole bathroom smell amazing and I still smelt of mango for ages afterwards, and it made my skin feel so soft that I didn't even need to moisturize afterwards.

I've also been really loving to watch Sunbeamsjess's Youtube video's this month, she has such nice clothes and I love all the outfits she puts together!

And I have been religiously reading Josielovesshoes's blog this month, her OOTD posts are so cute and the way she writes is so witty and she is always making me chuckle!

So that's it for August!
Hope you've all enjoyed the summer holidays :)
I'll leave you with a song I have listened to on repeat this month!

Thanks for reading :)

Lush Seanik Shampoo bar

Hellooo!
A quick review today! I've been intrigued by shampoo bars for a while but didn't know much about them. I saw they were selling for around the £5 mark in Lush and initially thought they lasted only a few washes so thought this was ridiculously expensive! However I got chatting to the lovely Lush sales assistant at the Cambridge store and found out a few interesting facts about the whole shampoo bar concept!

  • One shampoo bar contains the same amount of product as 3 of Lush's big shampoo bottles!
  • Depending on how often you wash your hair, one bar can last around 5 months!
  • There is no packaging so this is obviously better for the environment and easier for travelling.

I told the sales assistant my hair type and she recommended the Seanik bar because the sea salt is supposed the add volume while the lemon oil adds shine and the mimosa absolute, orange flower absolute and jasmine absolute fragrance gives hair a fresh feeling.

How to use: You can either rub the shampoo bar between your hands and then rub the lather through wet hair or just rub the bar straight on to your head! When I first used it I didn't think the lather was going to be enough to clean all my hair but it does! You can really tell how much shampoo is compact into the small bar, it lathers up through the hair so easily.

Lush Say: 'Leaves your hair buoyant. A shampoo bar with seaweed to soften and sea salt to give body. Our ocean-inspired bar is made with Irish moss and nori seaweed, which give a lovely mineral rich gel that softens the hair.'

I say: This is amazing, it's so different and fun to use, it smells so fresh and lovely and it makes my hair softer than it ever has been... ever. I usually wash my hair ever other day, sometimes less but the day I don't wash it I use dry shampoo. Since I've been using this I haven't needed any dry shampoo on day old hair, it's not oily it still looks fresh and shiny and it's great because I'm using less dry shampoo and I'm washing my hair less!

Note: If you are considering delving into the world of shampoo bars, remember they only last up to five months if you keep them dry whilst they are not in use. I keep mine on a shelf in the bathroom out of the way of the shower and it's lasting really well so far!

Have you tried any of Lush's shampoo bars?

NOTD Purple-y pink-y goldish-ness

Hellooo!

Just a quick post to show off my nail of the day! I have been loving my Models own Indian Ocean from the Beetle juice collection and have tried it over a few different colours but this is deffo my new fave! I painted a coat over Barry M's Vivid Purple and it turned it a really pretty goldy pink shimmer! It's sort of galaxy print-esque and I love it! Hope you do to :)

Dupe of the century!

Helloo!
I've been away with my mum and sister on a girly shopping weekend to Cambridge, which was very fun and I'm back now to report the best barg I've ever found...ever!
So I was browsing round Topshop's Autumn collection and loved everything sooo much, but as always the prices are so high and just not practical for my student budget!
I eyed up this bag but decided against it as £38 is way too steep and then forgot all about it and mooched about some more shops, finally hitting good old Primark.
I walked past the bag section and heard this little voice saying 'hey, over here... buy me!' and turned around to see this! Practically identical, and only £6!!
(Excuse the excessive exclamation marks, I am very excited by this.)

It's faux leather rather than suede which I actually prefer, it's got a little handle strap and a fringe-y tassle on the side, gold detailing and gold studs all over the front.
The lining is black and it's quite a good size, but it doesn't have any pockets which is annoying but neither does the Topshop one!

I can't wait to use it, I think I'll pair it with my new Lilac Cutout dress from Republic and my Daisy Street Karmel Heels when I go out tomorrow night!

Have you found any good Primark dupes?

Shopping the Stash!

Helloo!
As I mentioned in my recent Haul, I have officially run out of money for this month so will be on a forced spending ban until pay day! I was tempted by a very nice Topshop sales assistant to open a Topshop store card and spend to my hearts content but... as my boyfriend rightly advises, I'm a spendaholic and really cannot be trusted with any sort of credit card type thing..Waa! So I thought now is a good time to do the Shopping the Stash tag, which is a really good chance to look through what I already have and be economical and all that!

First up my Charles Worthington Leave in conditioner! I really like the smell of this and it makes my hair feel really soft and kind of light and fresh!

Soap and Glory Face Soap! I got this in a gift set for christmas as you can see here, and haven't got round to using it daily yet because I've been using my Body Shop Tea tree set a lot! That is almost all gone so I thought I'd get going on this one! It smells lovely and it's really gentle on the skin and doesn't dry it out. I may get a full review done on this when I've been using it daily for a while too :)

In my search through the messy drawer my makeup calls home, I found that I'd put these little perfume samples in a cute little bag at the back and forgotten all about them! I think they came from various Glossy Boxes but I don't think I've ever tried them so these have been liberated from the back of my drawer and placed in my handbag ready for use!

Fearne cotton loose powder eyeshadows! These were one of the things I was so excited to find! I used to use them loads, mostly all together for a smoky eye but they somehow got misplaced. I love Fearne cotton's range of makeup and can't wait until it comes back into Boots at christmas!

Elf Eyelid primer. I am ashamed to say that I ordered this from Elf and then never used it! It went in my drawer forgotten and I have neglected it until now, I used it yesterday with my MUA Heaven and Earth palette and it actually did quite a good job of setting my eyeshadow for the day! I'll deffo be using this more often now!

Bourjois smile enhancing lip gloss! I bought this when it first came out and really liked it but as I started to wear more lipsticks over the winter, it got forgotten. Now it's summery and warm again and I'm back into lipglosses a bit more I've dug it out! It's a lovely bright pink shade with blue undertones which makes your teeth appear whiter and the other end is a whitening gel to brush onto teeth in conjunction.

Clinique Cream eyeliner. I used to use every day for my winged liner but then I bought the Loreal liquid liner and found that a lot easier to use. But this is actually really good and it lasts forever without smudging so it's worth the effort it takes to put it on!

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker plumping lipgloss. I thought I'd lost this!! So happy I've found it again because it's almost full and I loves it! It's quite shimmery and sheer so I often wear it over lipsticks for a bit of a shine!

Last but not least I found my Topshop Highlighter! It's a really nice peachy colour with a really nice shimmer, I'll deffo be trying to use this a lot more!

I feel like I've got a whole new makeup collection now after finding this lot! And my makeup drawer is a whole lot tidier :)

If you've done this tag leave it below for me to have a look at! :)

Haul time!

Hellooo!

Hope you're all enjoying the nice weather in England!
I've been on a little girly trip with my Mum and Sister to Bath over the weekend to do some shopping which was very fun in the sun!

And although I am a bit skint, I did get a few bits and bobs...Whoops.
Hope you enjoy!

Lush Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly

This stuff smells exactly like the Comforter Bubble bar and it's sparkly... I love it.
I may do a review on this soon!

Lush Jungle Solid Conditioner

I am yet to try this but it smells good, I'm a tad confused about how you actually use it but I will do some research and let you know how I get on!

Republic Cutout Skater Dress

This was £28 down to £10 so I couldn't resist! It's really light and flippy and I love the colour. I have a guest post on Alizzet101's blog coming up on how to style this, so look out for that!

Models Own Nude Beige

This was £2 from Republic! Barg! When I was queuing to buy my dress I saw this and couldn't resist!

Miss Selfridge Bracelet Set

I bought these bracelets in the Miss Selfridge sale and the set was £2 down from £10 and the single one was £1 down from £7.50 so I have to say I'm proud of my bargain hunting skills! I'm not a massive fan of the pearl one but the rest will go together nicely or can be worn on their own.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer

I am a bit of a Concealaholic and I'm always on the hunt for the perfect one. I've used the Maybelline Super Stay 24hour concealer for ages because it's fab and I love it but I have heard lots of good things about this one too so thought I'd give it a try!

Skull Candle Holder

I actually bought this in Westfield about a week ago but I thought I'd throw it in to this Haul as well! It's from Zara home and was only £2 if I remember rightly! I love anything with skulls printed on them so this is a winner for me :)

So that's everything!
I have 11 days left until I get paid again so need to stop spending now!
I am planning a 'Shopping the Stash' post soon to combat my spending addiction so look out for that too :)

Thanks for reading!

How to: make your own body scrub

Hellooo!

Bit of a different sort of post from me today! I have been reading a lot of blogs posts about making your own products recently and I have always loved the concept but have never given it a go.

Then me and my sister saw this pretty little jar on sale for £2 in our local Garden Center and thought it would be perfect for holding some homemade body scrub!

As I am a student and budgeting is a concern of mine, I thought I'd make it using cheap ingredients. This makes it far better value for money than the shop bought equivalents while also being simple and safe for the skin.

So here you are, how to make your own body scrub: (featuring my little sister Lydia!)

Ingredients:

Caster sugar: Finer than granulated sugar so gentler on the skin,
restores balance to skins oils,
helps to reduce blemishes,
doesn't clog up your pores,
natural glycolic acid helps moisturize and condition the skin whilst also protecting it from toxins.

Honey: Contains vitamin B6 which treats dry skin and also eczema,
increases skins elasticity,
boots collagen production,
contains amino acids which help skin retain moisture.

Sainsburys Shower Cream: lightly scented,
PH balanced
 Paraben free.

Scent : The shower gel has a light floral scent which mixes well with the sweet smell of the honey and sugar, not too overpowering.

Consistency: It's 1 part shower gel 1 part sugar and 1 part honey so it's not thick but when you rub it in to the skin the sugar gently exfoliates whilst the shower gel means that it lathers slightly.

Results: I love that it's so simple and unlike some other body scrubs it doesn't irritate my skin, it's very gentle but still does the job and leaves skin feeling soft.

Value: The Jar was £2 in the sale and the rest of the products came to about £3 in total so £5 for a large amount of product (I'm not profesh enough to measure it out!) that I have made myself and suited to my own skin type is a barg!

We also bought another smaller jar to perhaps use for a homemade face product so watch out for another how to post on that!

Thanks for reading!
