Vo5 Give me Texture Instant Oomph Powder

Helloooo!
I have been raving about this product to all my friends for months and months now and have repurchased it at leeeast three times! I have put off reviewing it until now because I wanted to try other brands of this type of product to see if it was the concept of styling powder I liked rather than this specific product.

However I tried the Tresemme 24 hour plumping powder and also the Got2B Powder'ful Volumizing styling powder and this one is still my fave! The Tresemme one was good but I didn't think the smell was as nice and the Got2B Powder'ful one wasn't brilliant. It made my hair heavy and dragged it down rather than plumping it up.
So Yes Vo5 is number 1 for me!

It comes in this cute little pink bottle, perfect size to fit in your handbag. And the top is small enough so that just the right amount of powder comes out at a time.
I have used this for ages and will continue to repurchase, I have always had fine hair but used to have it quite long. I used it in the roots when I had long hair and it gave it a little lift but the ends were still flat, however now I have had shoulder length hair cut in I find it works wonders for me. I part my hair horizontally just above my ear and sprinkle some into the roots each side of my head, then also sprinkle a little bit over the top layer. Then I rub the roots and shake the layers with my fingers and waa laa it is lovely and volumous!

Good points:

  • Cute handbag-sized packaging!
  • Easy application
  • Lasts all day, when hair is looking flat again rub through your roots (you will feel the product still there) and it will look the same as when you first applied it!
  • Smells goooood
  • Considering there is only 7g in the bottle, it lasts a good while as you don't need much

Bad Points:

  • It is £4.07 per bottle in Boots which is a bit more than I'd like to pay for 7g of something... but it's worth it
  • If you apply while wearing dark clothes, you end up looking a bit dusty
  • If you apply too much, it counteracts and weighs hair down

So overall I am a huge fan, thanks Vo5 for creating something that makes me look like I actually possess thick lustrous hair! ;)

Thanks for reading!

Revlon Colour burst lip butter and Maybelline Popsticks

Hellloooo!

So, I went shopping the other day and I was browsing through Superdrug (which is a rare occurrence as I'm usually a Boots girl, so much so, that I gave the poor Superdrug sales assistant my Boots loyalty card by accident and she threw me a very disgusted look!!) Anyway, I was browsing and I noticed the three for two offer they have right now on all cosmetics! That is right, across ALL cosmetics! So even though I'm a poor student I couldn't resist... I got another MUA Heaven and Earth Palette (as my other one is well used up now!) and also a Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Cotton Candy annnnddd a Maybelline Colour Sensational Popstick in Citrus Slice. I won't review the MUA Palette as there are soooo many reviews already on that topic! But I thought it would be interesting to compare the two lipsticks, so 'ere you go!!

Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter
...in Cotton Candy

First of all I really like the packaging of the Revlon Lip Butter, it's a lovely bright pink with a raised pattern down two sides. The whole top comes off (instead of somewhere half way down like most lipsticks) so it feels really chunky in your hand. And I also noticed after I had taken these pictures that there is a little window in the top so you can see the end of the lipstick! Very convenient if you're forgetful and need a frequent reminder of what colour you have but not so useful if like me, you generally remember things like that! I think a nice little mirror would be more handy!

In this picture you can see really well the shine it has, it's a really nice pink with a gold shimmer through it, which is visible when the light catches it, and this also shows up really nicely on the lips! Revlon say it has a mango, shea and coconut butter formula which boosts lip moisture. It deffo does what it says on the tin, its really creamy and doesn't require any lip balm to prep the lips beforehand, and it kept my lips moisturized for a few hours, until I had to re-apply.

Here in the swatch you can't really see the shimmer as much as it shows up on the lips, but the pigmentation shows up well. I do like how sheer it is because I am usually a fan of bright matte lipsticks which are not so appropriate for the daytime, and I think this is a nice way to tone it down a bit!

So overall I have had a lot of good things to say, however reading that it was a mango, shea and coconut butter formula, I had hoped that it would smell better! (As I do like a nice smelling product when it's going to be applied so near to my nose!) It doesn't really smell of anything, but I guess you can't have it all!

Maybelline Colour Sensational Popstick
... in Citrus Slice.

So starting off again with the packaging, this one also has a long lid which gives it that chunky feel I like! Annnnddd it has a cute little mirror on the top which I find much more useful than a teeny tiny window! Although I don't like the colour of the lid, it's too bright and I think that makes it look a bit cheap.

The gimmick here is that it is like an ice-lolly, not in a tasty way, but in the way it's a 'crystal clear gloss stick' (Superdrug website).

I chose the Citrus Slice colour as I have been reading Zoella's blog and watching her YouTube videos and loveee the way she's incorporated orange in to her make-up! And I have a similar skin tone so I thought I'd try it out too :)

However... my quest for orange lippy is ongoing, this is not the product that I had hoped for. It is soooo sheer, even after coats and coats of the stuff it still has little to no pigment, which is rather disappointing. I feel like I've just bought a  very expensive vaseline! It's actually also the same consistency as vaseline, quite greasy and not half as creamy and moisturizing as the Revlon lip butter.
Here it is next to the other swatch and you can see the difference in pigment, I applied so many layers and it still barely showed up :( ...although I will say, it smells bloody lovely! ;)

So overall, I'm loving the Revlon lip butter and not so much liking the Maybelline Popstick! Let me know what you think? Are the other colours in the Maybelline Popstick range more pigmented?

Nail Tutorial!

Easy Peasy Spring Nails

Good Morningggg!
I thought I'd do something Spring like with my nails today as I have decided that I will prevail with Spring fashion and beauty despite the lack of Spring-like weather in England!
Hope you like it! :)

First of all I moisturized my hands and nails with The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter (after sticking my nose in it for a while!) because the smell of nail polish makes me feel a bit queasy and this masks the smell a bit! And it makes my hands all lovely and soft!

Then I used the Collection 2000 Five day wear in French White (103) to paint to coats on all my nails except the one on my ring finger.

To make sure that it didn't feel left out, I then painted my ring finger nail in Bourjois So Laque! Bleu Model (44) which is a lovely turquoise which would look great with a tan (if the sun ever actually makes an appearance!)

I then got my Rio Professional Nail Art Pen in white and drew a peace sign on the green nail on my left hand (as my right hand is less shaky!) and a cross on the green nail on my right hand. :)

Then I painted them all with a clear top-coat and.... Wa-laaa Spring nails which will go nicely with my spring wardrobe and make-up that I WILL be wearing in the cold and rain! :)

New glasses!

I recently had an eye test and found out that old lefty is too weak! So I need glasses for reading now, which I was delighted to hear (as I always thought glasses make you look smart) until I had to pay for them... Waa!

On my student budget I had to just get boots ones (even though I had my eye on some Gok Wan beauties) but I managed to customise them by buying this reaaaaalllyyyy cute case from paperchase! It's actually for sunglasses but hey, I liked it!

I'm feeling all intelligent wearing them for my day of revision/blogging/watching beauty videos today!

Love this!

I have been getting through all my Christmas shower gel and moisturiser sets and have sadly almost finished so will actually have to start spending money on them again! waa
There's one thing that has outlasted everything else..
My Burt's bees miracle salve is one thing I have consistently used since January and it's hardly gone down at all!
This thing is guna last me years!
It's fab as well, you can put it anywhere :o
Hands, nails, lips, body and it even says you can put it in your hair!
It's always rolling around in my handbag and I usually use it on my lips and also my nails as it helps soften up my cuticles!
So good :)

Toppers lippy

So... I ordered this online when topshop were doing the 20% student discount, meaning I got it for £6.40 instead of £8 :)
But online it didn't look as bright as it does really do I did get a bit of a shock when opening!
However I have grown to like this...
It's called Tease, and it comes out lighter on the lips than it looks in the swatch! (my boyfriend said it looks a bit lilac, not sure about that.. Ha!)
It's a nice creamy consistency and very pigmented, but my only gripe is that it doesn't last very long...
Overall it's a nice colour that I think looks best with a bit of blush and black winged liner!
Hope this is helpful!
