Guest-ober is over!

Hello and happy Halloween!
I hope you have all enjoyed my guest-posts this month as much as I have!
Unfortunately it's now over but I shall have a think what other month I can put Guest in front of and definitely do this again!
I thought I'd take the time to thanks all the lovely ladies that helped me out this month and tell you all about why I am a regular reader of all their blogs :)

Helen is a Journalism student just like me and her blog is full of her amazing OOTD's, every single time I see one of her posts, I end up wanting to buy the whole outfit! She is such a profesh blogger, with regular posts, constant Twitter updates and this has meant that her blog is successful, and more importantly, trusted by her loyal followers. So I'm sure you already have, but if you haven't go and follow her blog, you will not be disappointed!

Laura's blog is one of the first blogs I ever followed! She writes really good reviews and I love her Nail art posts. She recently did some Halloween nails which were soooo cute, and I admire anyone with a steady enough hand to do nail art! I was so glad that she chose to do her Winter Nail Polish picks on my blog as it was really exciting for me to read as well as you guys!

She is my name twin! Georgia's is a blog I regularly read because it has the perfect mixture of Beauty and Lifestyle. She writes such good product reviews but also mixes it up with lifestyle post which is a really nice way to get to know the blogger! I loved her skincare guest post, she wrote in so much depth about each product, I really felt like I learnt a lot!

Every time Vanessa comments on my blog, or I get an email from her it makes me smile! She always seems so happy and excitable! Her blog is the same, she is a multi-talented lady who posts about food, outfits, organisational tips and her wedding Flower business! Her blog is always exciting whatever it is she's posting about, so go and take a look!

To round off the month of Guest posting we had Clare tell us the current trends that she was loving, liking and just not getting! Her blog is exactly what it says on the tin, a bit of beauty a bit of fashion a bit of lifestyle and I really enjoy that variety! I like the way she writes and whatever the post is about, it's always interesting! So do go and check out her blog too :)

So that's all for now, thanks to all these lovely ladies! I hope you've enjoyed reading their posts this month :)

Halloween Costume Tutorial!

So every year when halloween rolls around I can't think of anything exciting and just reach for the cat/mouse/some sort of animal ears ('I'm a mouse duh...') But because this is our last year at uni, me and my housemate Kat decided we wanted to dress up properly! But of course on a student budget so we went for a DIY Dead Nurses!
I took some snaps of the getting ready process to show you a long the way...

My Halloween-y Make-up kit!

Fake blood and white face paint - £1.99 each from You Need Us.Accessorize Lovely Day palette.Stila in the light palette.Skylash mascara.BenetintClinique cream eyeliner

Step 1: Kat already had her base makeup on so then I smeared some white face paint in random places on her face, then applied a matte grey from the Lovely day palette in her crease and under her eye and blended it out.

Step 3: I then drew a thick line with the cream eyeliner ending in a small flick at the edge of her eye.Step 2: I then used Ebony from the in the light palette and applied it to the corners of the eyes, blended this out and made sure the line from underneath her eye up to the corner was neat and straight.
Step 4: Apply mascara. I used false lashes on myself as well for a more dramatic effect.
So that's the makeup done! Then we back combed out hair, and smeared fake blood all over our dresses and all over our arms and legs!
Tennis dresses: £7 H&MApron and headband set £5 from You Need Us.

Hope you enjoyed our Halloween tutorial! What are you dressing up as this year? Thanks for reading! :)Georgia and Kat xx
P.s. Did you see the last ever Guest-ober post by Clare from a bit of this and that?

Guest-ober 5 | Clare from A bit of this and that

Hello Lovely People,

My name is Clare and I write at ‘A Bit of This and That’. My blog does what it says on the tin. I blog about beauty, fashion and lifestyle and anything else in between.

When Georgia asked me to write for her blog, I got excited. Then it came to the many (many) hours of thinking about what to write to you all about. As Georgia is a very fashionable lady I thought I’d give you two current styles or items that I am loving but also one thing that I’m not liking or just not getting.

My two favourites:

  • Studs: One of my current favourite trends of the moment. They can be subtle like on the collars of shirts but can also be in your face like a good pair of heels. The great thing about this trend is that it is really easy to DIY something with studs, so you can be totally individual. My favourite example of studding that I own is my studded heels and bag that I bought from Ebay and Primark respectively.

  • Galaxy Print: Now this one surprised me. When this trend came out, it was everywhere and I wasn’t sure of it, however recently have been trying to get out of my comfort zone and how did I do this? I bought a pair of galaxy print leggings. I got a few really nice comments from people, which made me happy. I showed off these leggings on my blog because I wanted to show you don’t have to be a skinny lady to wear the trends… us curvy ladies can too ( what do you think?

The Thing I don’t like:

  • Creepers: I’m 22, but I feel like an old lady with these shoes. I don’t get them. I hope people don’t hate me for saying this but I think they are ugly and when you type in creepers into google you get many pictures of people with really nice outfits, which are ruined by these shoes. I wish someone would explain to me what is good about these shoes. Casing point is this picture. Maybe I’m just getting old.

I would like to know what your favourite trends or fashion items, either leave me a comment below or come and chat with me on twitter or on my blog.

Till Next Time,

Guest-ober 4 | Vanessa Eves

Hey guys! I'm Vanessa from www.vanessaeves.com and I'm delighted to be Georgia's guest blogger for the day. I'm going to share with you my top 5 items to instantly update your autumn/fall wardrobe with this season...

Now we all know the essentials needed for a basic winter wardrobe; black boots? Check. Brown boots? Check. Wool coat? Check. And so on.. But here's how to create a fresh new look this autumn without just buying new variations on the same old things .. (boring!)
1. Burgundy JeansNow if you already have this colour in your wardrobe, well done! You are officially bang on trend. They pair well with black & navy, but you can also get a little experimental and try them with other berry shades, or go classic with camel or cream.
Navy Snood
2. The Mega-SnoodI have about 4 of these in my wardrobe & I can't get enough, just chuck it over your head and go! So easy. No faffing about with tying a scarf 'just so', and get an oversized one and you'll look mega cute and cosy at the same time. Result!

3. Baroque Print Leggings
Now this trend was everywhere on the runway from Dolce Gabanna to Lanvin and Balmain, but if you don't fancy spending a years wages on an intricate baroque print jacket, then leggings is a great way to dip into the look. Now remember this IS a strong look, so keep it simple with a big black baggy knit and black wedges. Don't wear something tight fitting on your top half, and always remember with leggings you must have your top covering your bum! They are NOT trousers.

The military look swings back around every AW season, and an easy way to translate this into your wardrobe is by injecting some army green into your outfit. You could always invest in a khaki blazer but a simple t shirt will easily do the trick too! I just picked up a cute skull print t shirt in the New Look mid-season sale (mid-season already??) for only a fiver.

Mannish tailoring is huge again this season but if you don't want to end up looking like an uncool Dad (sorry but I'm not a fan of women in trouser suits with ties!) tip both your toes into this trend with a mannish loafer. The studded versions are my favourite as I find a normal loafer just a bit boring, (EVERYTHING is better with studs on it anyway!) wear with skinny jeans and a floaty, feminine blouse to soften them up.

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Campaign!

So a while ago a very nice lady contacted me to ask if I'd like to be part of the John Frieda Sheer Blonde campaign, exciting stuff! I did a post a while back on some hairstyles inspired from the John Frieda Youtube account which you can see here, and today I'll be reviewing the products from the collection that I was so kindly sent!

Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner

If you are a regular reader you may know that I love using Lush Shampoo bars because they have simple ingredients and are natural and I feel like they are good for my hair. So when I saw this set claims to gradually lighten your hair I was anxious about how it would work and if it would damage my ridiculously thin and fine locks!

John Frieda say:
  • 'Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo gradually lightens blonde hair for a year-round sun-kissed look.
  • The formula, containing a natural Lightening Complex, gently reduces the color pigments in the hair.
  • Gentle enough for daily use.
  • Ammonia and peroxide-free.
  • For all shades of natural, color-treated or highlighted blonde hair'

It also has natural ingredients like Citrus and Chamomile.

I Say:

When checking the ingredients I noticed that Water, Citrus extract and Chamomile extract where quite close to the top of the list (the list is organised by the quantity of the ingredient, so the first on the list is water meaning the product is mostly water.) Which is a plus, but it does contain alcohol which can be damaging to the hair when mixed with heat.

I have been using this shampoo and conditioner combination for a few weeks now and I have to say, any doubts I had about it have gone! It actually is very gentle and hasn't damaged my hair at all. I wash my hair every other day and my hair has definitely been gradually lightened! (Which is fab because I haven't had my highlights done in a while being back at uni and all!)

It smells lovely and fresh, sort of lemon-y (which makes sense because it has citrus in it!) and it's a bright yellowy creamy shade with shimmery bits in it which is nice!

I'd definitely recommend this for lightening when your roots start to show through or even to brighten up ombre ends!

This was the thing I was most excited to try! I love the Aussie 3 minute miracle and use it all the time so I wanted to see how this compared, as it it specifically for blonde hair!

John Frieda say:

'Intense treatment with patented technology bonds to hair, repairing textural damage. Distressed blonde becomes silky, shiny and supple.'

I say:
I was not disappointed by this product! It smells lovely, similar to the shampoo and conditioner but more floral (I think!) It's really thick and creamy and leaves my hair soooo soft, I'd say it's very similar to the way that Aussie 3 minute miracle leaves my hair. I haven't noticed that it actually repairs the ends of my hair but I've never found anything that has been able to do that. I apply it for 3-4 mins every other time I wash my hair but you can use it as a 15 minute mask as well so perhaps if I had the patience to do that I may notice a bit more repair!

Again I'd recommend this product for anyone with damaged hair from bleaching or heat because it does make it really soft and lovely! I haven't noticed a difference in the fact that it's specifically for blonde hair, but it works regardless!

John Frieda say:
'Style it mild or wild. Separates shapes and adds texture as it infuses blonde highlights with sexy, shimmering shine.'

I Say:
As soon as I saw this I was very excited, it's an amazing shimmery gold balm with actual glittery bits in it! So pretty. It doesn't smell of anything and the consistency is like a kind of more sticky Vaseline (I'm making it sounds lovely, I know!) I have used it after I have curled my hair for a night out a few times and liked it. I don't think it does much for holding the curls, perhaps it would be better for more sleek looks whereas I always wear my hair tousled (a.k.a messy!) But I do like how it adds a bit of shimmer! It's not like a throwback to the glittery hair mascara years (thank god) but it adds a subtle shimmer which makes my hair look shinier and just nicer!

Lightening SprayNow, I feel a bit bad, and I don't want to be at all ungrateful to the lovely people at John Frieda for sending me this, but I have to be honest! I used this spray a few years ago to lighten my hair and it damaged it so badly. I was using too much of it without thinking and it backfired! My already thin hair got even thinner and it wasn't pretty! But my sister has used this before to lighten her hair and hasn't had any problems so I'll give this to her and then it won't be going to waste!
I hope you have enjoyed this review!

The Think Pink Tag!

Hellooo!
I have been tagged by Jen from It's a Blondes Life to take part in the think pink tag for Breast Cancer Awareness month!

Here are the rules of the tag:

1) Pick out your favorite pink food, make up item, fashion and random item.
2) Spread the message about breast cancer to a female friend/family in your life - the awareness, the symptoms, the checks, the healthy foods that helps prevent the disease... anything or everything!
3) Write a blog post about 1 & 2, linking back to this post (and/or grab the cute button above!)!
4) Tag 3 of your blogger girlfriends to do the same!

Pink Fashion - Model's own Bubblegum! It's so bright, and it's matte.

Now I am not one to be emosh, especially online for the whole world to see! So I thought I'd share something happy to hopefully raise awareness. I found this video in which the employees at St Vincent medical center enjoy a very snazzy pink glove dance to raise awareness of Breast cancer. Hope you enjoy, watch out for the 1.50 and the old guy with the very provocative moves!
